I love this Arabic-reggae fusion song by Mohammed Moneer and The Wailers (Bob Marley’s band) done for Coke Studio Arabia.
creative lab community gathering
creative lab from twofour54 ibtikar is holding a community event today (March 13) to showcase its latest projects and introduce its pool of talents.
A great event for inspiration, mingling and networking with people from the media and entertainment industry in Abu Dhabi.
Here’s the link to the invite with location & time details:

Who can say no to a piece of tart?

Came across an ad for Tarts Sweet House, a manufacturer (in their own words - wrong choice of words in my opinion) of tarts and cakes based in Abu Dhabi, and the tarts look yummy.
After a quick scan of their basic website, seems they bake the goodies in their factory in Mussafah and those are distributed through home deliveries and deliveries to restaurants, hotels, etc. but seems they also have a small shop in Abu Dhabi at “Al Souq” which I’m assuming means the Central Souq (helps to clarify your location to attract customers!)
Will find it and give it a try soon.

Aflam, Abu Dhabi’s own film club
Abu Dhabi now has it’s first film club! Called Aflam Club, it will showcase award-winning Arabic independent films at complimentary monthly screenings, nurturing the film community in the city and providing networking opportunities for film professional and fans.
The club will launch on the night of Jan 25 with the screening of Tahrir 2011, a film about the Egyptian revolution directed by Tamer Ezzat, Ayten Amin and Amr Salama.
Aflam Club is founded by Nayla Al Khaja, a well-known Emirati producer and filmmaker.
For more information, to join the club and to reserve your seat for the launch event visit http://www.aflamclub.com/

Walk with Nadine Labki
Not a drinker or supporter of alcohol advertising, but this piece of communication for Johnnie Walker is honest and inspires to take bold steps and keep walking to achieve your dreams.
The spot features Nadine Labki, Lebanese director as well as lead actor of Caramel (2007) and Where Do We Go Now? (2011). Nadine stands out as an actor just as much as a director. Her acting is expressive and honest and her emotions come through very real. I think she’s the perfect choice for this campaign.
The music is composed and produced by Khaled Mouzannar who also composed the beautiful music for Nadine’s two films mentioned. He also happens to be her husband. Here’s one of my favorite pieces from Khaled from Caramel’s OST:
